Dear Lancers,

We haven't heard from you in quite awhile! So here's a chance to let us know what you want. More specifically, we are considering doing a series of articles to benefit you!

What would you like to know as an emerging artist? What things make you nervous when it comes to launching your art career? What interests you in the art world today? What trends do you think are popular?

Some topics we're considering:
* Hobbyist or Professional, how do you choose art as a day job?
* The Artist as Individual, how do you find your own style?
* Commission versus Job, are freelance commissions worth doing?
* What's the best traditional media?
* What's the best art program?
* The Holy War-Digital vs. Traditional

And more! We need topics, so fire away, folks! If you are interested in writing an article and having it posted here, let us know! OR point us to your article and we'll add it to our favorite News posts.

And for the love of Pete, SOMEBODY post on the forum! I don't care if you just go on there and post the word "moo". It really needs love.

If you don't know about Dragon Con, you're missing out on one of the coolest cons in the Southeast US! You can see the website at [link]

Dragon Con is also the home of a constantly growing and magnificent art show which needs YOUR help! It takes about 70 volunteers to help everything run smoothly, but there are currently only...5.

So if you will be in the area and attending, why not earn some brownie points by volunteering for the Art Show? Not only will you gain the love and respect of a prestigious show, but you will also be elligible for free admission to the con AND get valuable experience in how to run a show, a good skill for any artist to know.

They need volunteers for security, checking in, door duty, any number of things. For info on how to volunteer, email the art show directors, John and Anne Praise, at this email.

So get your butts moving! The art show needs YOU!

Well it seems we have been quieter than usual lately and I wanted to let you all know the reason why. I have been very caught up in finishing up my last bout of graduate school and am proud to announce I have, for the most part, completed my Masters in Arts Administration from SCAD. Now that I'm back to the grind, I'm happy to kickstart this place again.

New Forums?
We had some server issues, but now our forum has been moved to a shiny new server and is just aching for you all to post! Feel free to start your own discussions or ask for tips and tricks. The forum has been dead before, but now it's time to bring it back like a prophetic zombie!

ACTIVITY!
That's right! Activity! The first order of business for us will be rearranging the artist profile lists so they are sorted by specialty (ie. fantasy art, horror art, anime, etc) for ease of searching by prospective clients. So if you have not updated your profile lately, please contact our recruiter =windfalcon via note with your updates asap!

Next in the wings, we WILL have a contest if I have to sacrifice a goat to make it happen! We have been in sore need of a graphic designer for some time to make banners and journal graphics. If you think you're up for the job, PLEASE contact me asap! If you do well, I am happy to offer my name as a reference on your resume and give you good props from the club.

We're also planning on continuing our artist interviews and other news article series! If you have any ideas for who would be a good person to interview or about a good topic, let us know via note or comment here.

For those of you who have stuck with us through our thick and thin times, we love you so. Thanks for working with *freelancers. We look forward to interesting times!
