COMMISSION PROCESS

1)Send me an e-mail or note with your commission request form (available here http://kittystavern.com/commission_request_form.htm) filled out as completely as possible.  You can e-mail me with questions if you are unsure about anything on the form.

2)I will get back to you with any questions I may have.  If I have no questions, I will send you a price quote and we agree on a price.

3)A deposit is due before I begin work.  You can pay in full upfront, but some are wary of doing so (which I can understand).  Please note, that you will not receive the complete hi res file until I receive payment in full.

4)Once I receive your payment, I begin work on your commission.  I will send you updates regularly to get your input and feedback on the commission. Here are the stages you can expect to see when working with me:

For a pencil, ink, ink with shading, cel-shaded, or CG full color image:

Stage One, Sketching: I do a rough sketch. Sometimes more than one depending on if the client or I have set idea of what the final work should look like. Then I refine that sketch adding detail until it looks how the client wants it to look.

Stage Two, Inking: I then go over the sketch with ink. Usually by hand.

Stage Three, Flat Color or Shading:  I do touch up on the linework and then remove the white from the image. I then block in the large areas of color.  If a shaded commission, I do the shading at this stage instead of color.

Stage Four, Coloring and Detail (Cel or CG): I take the flat colored image and start adding detail. I start more broad and then move to more specific details until the image is done.

For 3D work:

Stage One, Rough Sketch: I do a rough sketch for the character and pose to get an idea of what the final character should look like. I generally do not send this to the client but keep it around for me when I work so I don't get off track. I sometimes skip this step if the client sends me ample references.

Stage Two, Base Models: I get the base figure worked out including overall body build, skin textures, eyes color, and facial detail, sometimes I will do the hair at this stage.

Stage Three, Clothing: I then add clothing (and hair if I haven't already) to the figure. I them texture everything.

Stage Four A, Posing: The next to final step involves posing the character and adding any props (swords, guns, etc).  Lighting is also set during this stage.

Stage Four B, Background (optional): If a background is requested it is built and the figure is placed in it. Also, if there is a background the lighting is set after the figure is placed in the background.

Stage Five, Rendering and Postwork: I get all the final details together and render out a hi-res version of the character. I then take him/her into Photoshop and do any postwork (reworking hair, fixing glitches, etc) that may need to be done to complete the image.

I believe that's everything.  You can note or e-mail with questions at any time.
